"K.T., meet My Melody and Chip. She's from outer space, guys. Be nice."
—Tuxedo Sam introducing K.T. to My Melody and Chip

K.T. the Kitty Terrestrial is an episode of the television series Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater that is based on the movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

Story[]

K.T. the Kitty Terrestrial is stranded on our planet! But with the help of Earth pals Sam, Chip and Melody, she'll phone home—and fly there, too—in this out-of-this-world adventure.

Plot[]

Before the show, Chip, My Melody and Catnip see a sack of chocolate chip cookies that are to be used in it and each take one. Grinder then comes in and eats the entire sack load. Grandpa Kitty catches him, as Grinder confesses with his mouth full of cookies. Grandpa understands and tells him to put his costume on for it's almost showtime. He sees the sack is empty, and so the only thing he could do was make prop cookies with sawdust, glue, and lastly, brown food coloring.

The story begins in a tiny planet far from Earth, where a little space kitten, K.T., lived with her folks. One day, her mother told her that her father is taking them on a picnic. K.T. is excited, and the two hop onboard with him in their spaceship and head off to their picnic spot. K.T. asks him where they're going, and he tells her that they're going to an out of the way planet called Earth.

They arrive at an American forest as their pleasant picnic spot, as two scientists, Catnip and Grinder, spot them in the telescope. They see them landing and they prepare to head to their location and catch them. At their picnic spot, K.T. asks her mother if she can look around for a while. She accepts, but warns her to be careful and to stay away from the natives, as K.T. restates that she'll be alright. Catnip and Grinder descend down the hill in their truck as he speeds up to make time. As K.T. goes exploring, she spots and butterfly and chases after it because she wants to show it to her parents. While chasing it, she trips on a rock, then runs off a cliff and bumps into a moose as they both run off in fear. Catnip and Grinder are getting closer as they plow through scenery.

K.T.'s father tells his wife that he's looked everywhere for K.T., so they hurry back home to arrange a search party. They blast off as the scientists arrive at the scene too late. Catnip becomes upset, vowing to get them soon, as Grinder eats the food they left behind. K.T. comes back relieved until she runs in with the scientists. They give chase until Grinder's net gets snagged on a tree and are both thrown back behind.

K.T. finds a cabin where she can hide with a sign on the door reading "NO KITTY'S ALLOWED" (to which she can't read). She enters and sees the cabin empty with nobody inside. She breaks into tears, starving, and missing her parents as she goes to a corner and cry until she soon falls asleep.

Tuxedo Sam comes back to the cabin (which is revealed to be his clubhouse) and sees K.T. as a trespassing kitty as he scolds her for ignoring the sign and entering a place that is unauthorized for her. She wakes up and she and Sam run from each other in fear. Sam realizes that she must be afraid of him and decides to introduce himself to her and give her a cookie. She eats the cookie, but spits it out (because it was fake). K.T. then introduces herself, telling him that she wants something else than those cookies. Sam is surprised that she speaks English (since she learned it in kittygarden), and so he takes her to his clubhouse for food.

Far away from them, Catnip and Grinder are looking for K.T. as Grinder sniffs her trail and guides the way. At the clubhouse, Sam warns K.T. to hide as his friends are coming, so she hides in his toy box. Chip and My Melody arrive hungry for lunch, but Sam tells them that he ate it all himself. Melody crossly goes to collect her toys from the toy box, but gets scared when she sees K.T. Sam introduces her to them, telling them to be nice with her. Chip thinks he's kidding, but K.T. proves it by using her antennae to float. They are amazed, until they hear a commotion outside as the scientists catch them!

They arrive at a laboratory and before the two could unload them and bring them in, K.T. uses her antennae to open the door and run free as the two come and see the back empty.

Back at the clubhouse, K.T. becomes homesick, thinking of how worried her folks are. Melody sets a hooded ear down with the idea of calling them, the one thing to do if you get lost. Chip says that there's a payphone in town as he lends her some quarters. So they all set off on Sam's bike with a wagon strapped behind it.

They arrive at the phone booth, as K.T. tries to contact home while Chip keeps inserting more quarters by demand. Before he could insert more, he drops the quarters and everyone goes to pick them back up, until Sam spots trouble. Catnip and Grinder are there with police in hazmat suits as he uses his strength to rip out the booth, but begins to lose balance as he walks backwards at her and the officers. Sam, K.T., Chip and Melody run back to the bike and run off as Grinder tries to stop them, but plow through him. Catnip and the police give chase on motorcycles, as Grinder answers the phone, realizing he didn't place this call for outer space.

Sam, K.T., Chip and Melody run across town to try and evade the police until he sees a speed bump and they all fly into a fish shop. Catnip goes in to catch them, but carnage sees the four escape and Catnip with a fish stuck on her. Melody has an octopus stuck on her face until she manages to dislodge it and throw it onto an oncoming officer. They head to an alleyway, but there's a closed fence in the way, as K.T. opens them up with her antennae. Catnip and Grinder block their way with their truck, but Sam can't stop, so K.T. has a plan. She uses her antennae to make the bike fly, as Grinder nets them but is brought up with them. Grinder is scared of heights, so K.T. simply tells him to let go. He does so, and he lands atop Catnip as his net falls on them, with Catnip becoming even more upset. Up in the air, Sam tells K.T. not to worry as they have everything they need at the clubhouse to make a radio transmitter, as they land back down there.

The transmitter is assembled, and Sam creates a signal by playing an electric guitar as radio waves soar above. Sure enough, it worked as the mothership comes down and lands on the ground. K.T. thanks Tuxedo Sam, Chip and My Melody for taking good care of her, and says that she will miss them. She boards the ship, and the trio wave goodbye as the ship blasts off, and the story ends with the actors taking their bow.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first time Tuxedo Sam has his eyes drawn with white ovals or circles around his pupils; this is most likely done to show that he was surprised about an upcoming obstacle, which is a gate. It is also the first time he has shown any hostility towards Kitty White, although this was due to the No Kitties Allowed sign.
  • In real life, the plural for "kitty" is spelt "kitties," not "kitty's."
