Cinderkitty is Episode 2 of Season 1 of Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater based on the fairy tale of Cinderella. It was originally released on April 26, 1987. Instead of two stepsisters, like in the original story, Catnip plays Cinderkitty's only stepsister and a football game is added instead of a royal ball.

Story[]

Poor little Cinderkitty is always up to her whiskers in chores. But with the help of her Fairy Catmother (Grandma Kitty), she'll find fun, adventure – and true love – all before the stroke of midnight!

Plot[]

Before the show, Hello Kitty was checking up on everyone to be sure that they're getting ready. In Grinder's dressing room, Catnip was admiring her beauty, whilst planning to make Kitty look bad. She then goes back to teaching a clueless Grinder of whenever he sees Kitty in a football uniform, charge directly at her. He does so, way too soon, that he charges at the mattress with the picture on it and is bounced back directly at his punching bag, getting hit by it again. Catnip is not impressed, telling him to save his energy for the show.

The story begins with a poor kitten named Cinderkitty, who lived with her wicked, nasty stepmother Fangora, and her mean, vile stepsister Catnip, who was playing football with a catapult. Catnip comes outside, telling her that her stepmother needs her to come inside, now. CK tells her that she'll do one more catch, but Catnip states that girls can't play football, but CK is the one who can. Catnip decides to get her in trouble by turning the catapult in the other direction, as CK unknowingly launches the football directly through the front window. Fangora is cross of her, telling her to come in and clean up her mess, then the house, then do her chores. Saddened, CK would miss the big game, as Catnip comes back in to get ready for cheerleading.

Inside, Catnip hopes about Prince Purrfect picking the head cheerleader as his princess to be her as Fangora gets her ready. CK is amazed, until she got sent back to mopping. As Fangora uses inspiration from the Glamour Cat magazine, CK asks if she can attend for cheerleader tryouts. The two are shocked to hear such question! Why would the prince want to do anything with such a poor, grubby cat like her? CK pleads, but Fangora denies, grounding her as she shamefully heads to her room. CK finds it unfair that she can't go to the Bulldogs v. Royals game. Then, a magical fairy appears in the room, telling her to cheer up. She introduces herself as her Fairy Catmother, asking her if she wants to be a cheerleader. CK says that she would rather be a wide receiver, but they don't allow girls in the team. She accepts to be a cheerleader, hoping that this would catch Prince Purrfect's eyes. The fairy magically turns CK into a masked cheerleader, then turns a skateboard outside into a luxury 4-door convertible, then magically dresses up as CK's chauffeur, then both hop in and drive to the stadium.

At the stadium where the big game is held, Catnip shows off as she roots solely for Prince Purrfect, as he watches in boredom. Then the car rolls by, as CK steps out and begins performing her cheerleading. Everyone is amazed, even the prince was impressed that she'll be his head cheerleader for sure. Fangora and Catnip try to sabotage her cheerleading to make her look bad. As CK tosses a stick in the air, the two sneak by in a bush as Catnip unties her left shoe and Fangora throws a pom pom to knock the stick down. CK runs to grab the stick until she trips on her laces, launching her left shoe straight into the prince's beak. The two laugh, even the audience, as she runs away. After dislodging the shoe off him, the prince tries to run after her, but she's gone. He asks Chip who she was, but he has no idea, so the prince comes up with a decision; after the game, he will try this shoe on every girl in the kingdom, and when he finds the one that fits, she will be his princess.

The game starts, and CK is crying over that one mistake she made. The fairy appears, encouraging her to not let that one setback put her out of the game, and that keeping on trying is the most important part as she makes a new plan. As the two watch the game in action, Chip is hurt and out of the game. This spells trouble for the Royals with one player out. CK asks the fairy if she can go in for Chip, otherwise they'll never win without her. The fairy says that she's just about out of wishes, but CK promises that this is her last wish. She is turned into a football player, and runs into action as the team's mystery player. The prince asks who she is, realizing he's a girl. Grinder then remembered what Catnip said about charging at Hello Kitty in a football uniform that he begins to charge too soon as Catnip tries to stop him. As the action goes, the prince throws the ball long and hard, as CK runs after it and catches it! TOUCHDOWN! Everyone cheers for the Royals' victory. Grinder then remembered that Catnip told him to wait until Kitty has the ball, that he charges past her and through the wall. The prince goes to congratulate the "mystery player," but she runs away again, back to her house as his teammates gather around him.

Back at the house that evening, CK is cleaning up as Fangora and Catnip return from the game. She asks them who won; the Royals of course, and Catnip made the cheerleading squad. Catnip is certain that she will be the chosen one to be the prince's princess. CK neutrally congratulates her, as she is sent to clean the chimney. A knock on the door is heard and Catnip goes to answer. It was Prince Purrfect. She asks him to come in, thinking if he has the arrangements for her to be her princess; he doesn't. When he finds the one who's foot fits this shoe, she will be his princess. He's already tried every other girl he could, so it must be Catnip. Fangora tries to squeeze the shoe on Catnip's left foot, but it's useless for the shoe is too small. The prince hears a voice coming from the chimney, then sees paws dangling, girl paws, so she must be the one. The two are shocked! No way could it bet her! But it is her! CK drops down covered in chimney dust, telling him of what a mean pass he threw, and the prince begins to admire her; his wide receiver, his cheerleader, and more importantly, his princess. As he approaches her, he trips on the dust bucket and everyone gets covered in black, dirty, grimy chimney dust. And so, Prince Purrfect and Princess Cinderkitty lived happily ever after.

The story ends and as the actors bow, Grinder charges at Hello Kitty with the ball. Everyone runs off with only her and Catnip, as Kitty gives her the ball and gets charged on by him. Hello Kitty breaks the fourth wall as she looks at the audience and winks directly at us.
