My Sweet Piano (マイスウィートピアノ, Mai Suwīto Piano) is a Sanrio character who debuted in 1976 as Hitsuji and was renamed Piano in 2005.

She's My Melody's best friend. She is a sheep with soft pink fur covering her low ears, a round tail, white skin, and a yellow oval nose. In Onegai My Melody she cannot speak, only communicating through sheep noises. However, she's capable of speaking in other media, such as Hello Kitty Seasons. Her personality is described as soft, kind, and girly. Her birthday is July 6th.

History[]

In 1980, 5 years after My Melody was created, Sanrio creates a sheep character as a friend of My Melody. Piano was debuted as "Hitsuji" or "Hitsuji-san", which roughly translates to "Miss Sheep" or "Sheep".

In 2005, Sanrio asked readers of its monthly Strawberry News to suggest a name for her, and the selection of the name "Piano" was announced in 2005. Its standalone goods were also using the name "My Melody's Friend Piano" was released.

The first solo merchandise with the character under the full name "My Sweet Piano" was released in 2008.

In Onegai My Melody, their appearance had flowers on her head and a straight tail, while on their goods, they had rounded tail, similar to My Melody.

Ranking in the Sanrio Character Ranking[]

Piano first appeared in the 2013 Sanrio Character Ranking. During the same ranking, if she was 80th place or lower, she would be shorn. In the 2023 country/region statistics, she ranked 7th in The Chinese Mainland and 10th in Italy.

In Onegai My Melody, she is voiced by Junko Takeuchi, who is also the voice of Kuromi in the series. Junko's voice for Piano was also later used for Sanrio Puroland's parade show, Miracle Gift Parade.
