Kashiwankomochi (かしわんこもち) is a Sanrio character who is both mochi, and a dog. On Children's Day in Japan, the day kashiwa mochi are traditionally eaten, an unsold kashiwa mochi partially transformed into a dog in hopes of being purchased and adopted. Kashiwankomochi also has friends who are part mochi, part animal, who transformed later in the same shop. Kashiwankomochi's dream is for you to eat delicious food all year round.
Kashiwankomochi made their first appearance in 2013 with their participation in the Food Character Election alongside Gudetama, Kirimichan., and other food characters. Kashiwankomochi won third place and thus became an official Sanrio character.
